Leonardo in Milan

Our tour is designed to complement the major exhibition on Leonardo da Vinci at the Court of Milan in the National Gallery, and we will be arranging a special visit to this prior to the tour.

The Visconti and Sforza Dukes of Milan made the city one of the great centres of Renaissance culture, and we will be exploring the works they commissioned: Leonardo’s great fresco of the Last Supper, delightful frescoes by his major pupils, and Bramante’s soaring architecture in the choir of Santa Maria delle Grazie. There is much else to admire: the superb Old Masters in the Brera Museum and the venerable Romanesque basilica of Sant’ Ambrogio.

In addition we will be visiting a couple of wonderful private houses in the city, with collections of priceless Old Masters. We end the tour by attending a performance at the world-famous opera house of La Scala.

Dates	Friday 3rd to Wednesday 8th February 2012
Cost	£2,575 This includes Half Board plus two dinners, all lectures, coach trips and entry fees. An accompanied visit to the Leonardo exhibition at the National Gallery in London is also included. We will let you know the price of the opera tickets as soon as they are released. We reserve the right to adjust the price should there be a significant alteration in the rate of exchange. Please note that the cost of air travel is not included.

Hotel	The Carlton Hotel is superbly comfortable with a chic atmosphere befitting its very central location in Milan’s smartest shopping district. As with all hotels in the Baglioni group, the rooms are individually designed and furnished to an extremely high standard.
Single Rooms	There will be a supplement of £430 for single occupancy of a double room.
