Fine Art Travel's Tour to Rome in March 2007
We begin our tour with the great monuments of antiquity, vividly brought to life in Boris Johnson’s recent book on Rome, and the accompanying TV series.
We can appreciate, at first hand, the extraordinary achievements of the ancient Romans, notably figures such as the remarkable Emperor Hadrian, architect of the Pantheon and an amazing Villa at Tivoli. The legacy of classical Rome gave the Eternal City a unique position during the Renaissance and the Baroque eras.
We are extremely fortunate in having a private visit to the Sistine Chapel, where we can admire Michelangelo’s superlative frescoes in total peace and quiet. We have been invited by members of the Roman nobility to visit their family palazzi and gardens that still contain magnificent collections of works of art.
We end with a private dinner in a palazzo filled with artistic masterpieces.
