Renaissance Perfection: Piero, Perugia and Urbino

We will be based in the dramatic hilltown of Perugia, founded by the Etruscans, with a wonderful array of mediaeval buildings, and the best collection of works by Perugino, the greatest master of the Umbrian School. It is very striking that the landscape we will be travelling through is so reminiscent of the backgrounds Perugino and Piero depicted in their altarpieces.

Charles FitzRoy is the ideal guide for this tour. His formidable knowledge of history as well as art history will make this a fascinating and enlightening trip.

We will drive from Perugia through the Apennines to Urbino, dominated by its magnificent Ducal Palace, one of the architectural jewels of the Renaissance, and housing works by Piero and Raphael, who was born in Urbino.

We are lucky to have been invited to visit a number of elegant and charming villas and gardens in the Umbrian countryside by their hospitable owners.

Cost: £4,950. This includes five nights bed and breakfast in a Deluxe room all lunches and two dinners, all visits, lectures and coach trips. We reserve the right to adjust the price should there be a significant alteration in the rate of the exchange. Please note that the cost of air travel is not included.

Hotel: The five star Hotel Brufani lies at one end of the elegant Corso Vannucci with its shops, cafes and Renaissance palaces and boasts spectacular views over Perugia’s rooftops to the valley and hills beyond. All our rooms will be spacious and comfortable.

Single Occupancy: There will be a supplement of £450 for single occupancy of a Deluxe double room.
